After paying homage to some of their classic turn-based RPG in Octopath Traveller, it seems as though Project Triangle Strategy will make good use of their almost unique graphics engine and visual style while evoking the spirit of another fan favourite game and genre. Of course, Square Enix have their own rich legacy to honour in the tactical RPG genre, with the iconic Final Fantasy Tactics games, the first of which came to the PS1, with sequels and successors for Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS and iOS. The game is clearly a successor in many ways to the excellent RPG Octopath Traveler, but the actual gameplay has much more in common with the tactical RPG battling of the Fire Emblem series, right down to the titular triangle of strenght and weaknesses alluded to in the game’s title. Three continents are at war with each other: Glenbrook, Esfrost and Hisante. The story takes place 30 years after the Soltiron War. Events unfold in the fictional kingdom of Norcelia. Some heroes agree and support the choice, but others may strongly disagree with the decision made. These decisions have to do with morality and freedom. For example, a fire attack can burn buildings and objects near a unit.Īs you progress through the passage, you must make decisions that will affect the course of the story. The locations in Triangle Strategy are interactive and you can interact with them. When the value reaches zero, the character dies. Weapons and armor also affect characters’ abilities. Victory is achieved when all opponents on the field are defeated.Įach hero has their own unique attributes: movement range, attack power, movement distance, and more. A grid is available on which to move characters from their party. The gameplay is inspired by projects like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics.
